UAD is Santa… Until December 1st
What’s Up
Universal Audio's Cyber Monday freebie is back (ends Dec 1). Use their code BFPICK1FREE at checkout to grab one of ten premium plugins, including the Pultec Passive EQ Collection or PolyMAX Synth.
So What
Is Oprah secretly running UAD? They've been practically giving away their store this year. And now, you get to pick one of ten (really expensive) plugins, like the Pultec EQ Collection that usually costs $149.
Warning: Analysis paralysis is real, so don’t overthink it.
Now What
Go to uaudio.com before December 1st. You’ll need a free iLok account (no dongle needed) and the UA Connect manager. If you’re torn, the PolyMAX is the best bang for your buck if you need instant, expensive-sounding synth patches.

Instagram Is Trying to Kill CapCut
What’s Up
A copy of a copy – who would have thought? Instagram is now trying to copy TikTok, copying YouTube with their new 20-minute Reels update. But the real story here is Adam Mosseri essentially telling CapCut to "square up", admitting that using native tools gives creators "an edge on reach".
So What
For indies using CapCut, this isn’t a tip; it’s a threat. If you’re still editing in CapCut, you’re fighting the algorithm with one hand tied behind your back. Also, don't fall for the 20-minute trap; no one goes on Instagram to watch documentaries.
Now What
Ignore the long video feature. Indie growth still happens with short-form content. The sad part is, you need to break up with CapCut if you want the boost from the algorithm.
Cash Out Early (Without a Label)
What's Up
$10M paid out to independent artists, and no, this isn’t a Spotify settlement. It’s a milestone hit by Amuse, an indie distributor like DistroKid and TuneCore. This month, they added YouTube royalties to their “Fast Forward” calculation, making them the only service that tracks Spotify, Apple, and YouTube to determine how much you get for your advance.
So What
It’s no secret that streaming payouts are painfully slow. You have to wait three months for a week’s pay. That’s where Amuse’s system comes in. It’s like a payday loan based on data and not credit scores. On top of that, you get to keep your rights (crazy, right?).
Now What
Check your "Wallet" on Amuse to see if the YouTube stats bumped your eligibility. If cash flow is the only thing stopping you from buying ads or selling merch, this feature alone might be worth the migration headache from DistroKid.
