Why Leave TikTok at All?

What’s Up

You’re lazy. We’re lazy. And Big Tech knows this. This week, TikTok and Apple Music are planning to make it so that if you hear a song you like on TikTok, you don’t even have to leave the app.

So What

Since launching the “Add to Music App” feature, TikTok users have saved over 3 billion tracks to streaming services. Now imagine what would happen when the “Play Full Song” feature rolls out publicly.

One caveat, though: users need an active Apple Music subscription, which could limit how many people actually use it.

Now What

This is still in beta, but it shows where discovery is heading: TikTok as a streaming platform. Be ready.

2026: The Revenge of the Misfits

What’s Up

Good news for anyone who doesn’t exactly fit the mold. SoundCloud’s latest report shows listeners - especially Gen Z - aren’t tying themselves down to one genre. They’re getting curious and exploring new genres (probably scared of being labeled a music “NPC”).

So What

Fans aren’t boxed into a genre anymore, so why are you? Now’s the time to experiment and be weird. Don’t listen to anyone telling you to make music that’s “trending.” Chances are it won’t be trending in a few months because of saturation.

Now What

Experiment. Focus on what makes you special and what you’d like other people to hear. Plus, keep pushing older releases. Tracks older than 18 months on Soundcloud are gaining a bigger share of plays.

Democracy, But Make It An Album Rollout

The Drop

Yeah, we know. Bebe Rexha isn’t what we’d exactly call a small-time artist. But she is now an indie, and she pulled a smart one this week. She let fans vote on which singles from her new album should drop first with social media likes. Not exactly Nobel Prize material, but it’s one of those “under-your-nose” kinda strategies.

The Ripple

Success as an indie now is all about fan engagement. Bebe Rexha knows this. Instead of guessing which song will hit, she lets your audience decide. She didn’t overthink it, and you shouldn’t either.

The Take

First, things first: post audio snippets of your unreleased songs. And then, let fans vote via likes or polls. Use vibe coding to build simple voting tools and release the winner first.
